4th Sunday of Lent
Worship Leader: Shauna Meek
Resources Used: Whole People of God; Voices United

Let us worship together as we read! You can follow along with the service which will be livestreamed on Facebook at 10AM Sunday morning.

For those who are not on Facebook, we will be posting the video onto our YouTube channel early in the week.

WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

One: Give thanks to God, who is good, whose love lasts forever and ever! We thank you, God, for you are good and your love lasts forever and ever.
All: We thank you with songs of joy and tell all what you have done for us.  We thank you, God, for you are good and your love lasts forever and ever!
One: In our trouble we call to you, God, and you save us from our distress.
All: We thank you, God, for you are good and your love lasts forever and ever!

OPENING PRAYER:

All: On this Sunday of joy, we pause to remember that even in cold and difficult times, such as this season of Lent, we are never alone. May we always remember, loving God, that you are with us – to comfort, strengthen, and challenge us. Amen.

OPENING HYMN:

Voices United #377 – Holy Spirit, Hear Us

LENTEN TENEBRAE LITANY: Lent 4

All: You, O God, are the ever faithful one. We confess that we have not understood in our heart of hearts the uncompromising forgiveness of the cross. We have not trusted in your ability to use us, even us, as builders of shalom. O God, break through the barriers of fear which separate us from our brothers & sisters & empower us to respond with courage & conviction. Amen

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:

All: We are stubborn, O God. We want things our way or not at all. We are restless, O God. We demand instant solutions. We have fears, O God. Sometimes we let them overtake us. Forgive us. Fill us with your grace, make us new, and set us right. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON:

One: Hear the words of this simple truth proclaimed in scripture: “God loved the world so much, God sent Jesus, God’s only son, to be our Saviour.” Indeed, God did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world might be saved through him. Know that – no matter who you are or where you have been or what you have done – God loves you. Always.
All: Thanks be to God! Amen.

BLESSING/SENDING FORTH:

God calls us to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. May we find the faith to go out with courage, nor knowing where we go, but only knowing that God leads us and God’s love supports us. May we make choices wisely, always leaning on God to show us the way. Amen.
