WELCOME, ANNOUNCEMENTS:
We extend a warm welcome to all who are worshipping with us this morning. We hope that this time together allows you to hear the voice of God, and refresh and strengthen your faith.
LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE:
The Christ candle is lit this morning in witness to the fact that Christ, who is our light, is here among us.
CALL TO WORSHIP:
One: Come to this place to be opened to the wonder and mystery that surround you.
All: We come to catch a glimpse of God’s mystery as we search for new meaning. One: Come to unburden yourselves in God’s presence.
All: We come to be filled anew with God’s grace.
One: We come to hear God’s voice.
All: We have heard the call of God and we have come this morning that we might answer. Let us worship God.
OPENING PRAYER: Voices United p. 86
All: Radiant God, light for all people and all places, by the guidance of a star you led the Magi to worship the Christ Child. By the light of faith, lead us to worship you in peace and love, and guide us in your way. We pray in the name of Christ, light of the world. Amen.
OPENING HYMN:
Voices United #326 - O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
All: Lord, who loves us, we confess our failure to answer your call to discipleship, to share the Good News of your gospel, to bear fruit from the seeds you have planted, to be your presence in a wounded world. Forgive us. Make us anew. Give us courage to go with you, conviction to proclaim your Word, a sense of purpose for your work, and faith to see the assurance of the resurrection in all things. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
One; God never tires of listening, of forgiving, of turning us around, so we can begin again.
All: In turning to our Savior in confession we are assured that we can walk from here in peace and forgiveness. Thanks be to God. Amen.
GOD’S WORD TO US:
Deuteronomy 18:15-20 – The Promise to Send a Prophet
Mark 1:21-28 – A Man With an Evil Spirit

BLESSING AND SENDING FORTH:
One: God chooses messengers and prophets in every age. God’s work needs your prayer, your love, your self.
All: In faith, we hear and answer. In hope and joy, we go to bear witness to the love that frees and heals. Amen.
