CALL TO WORSHIP:                                                     

One: We come into this place of worship in search of light to guide our way.

All: We come because we have seen the light from afar and desire to come closer.

One: We come to journey in joy with others walking in the light that Christ brought into our world. 

All: Let us worship God. 

OPENING PRAYER: 

All: God of mountains, God of valleys, and God of the in between and the everyday, we come together today to hear your word for our lives.     Please open our hearts and our whole selves as we embrace your unending love and compassion.  Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION: 

All: How good, O God, it is to be here, where your glory shines and your bright vision of justice and peace surrounds us.  Be with us here in our worship and in all our days.  We know how easily praise and singing give way to fear and silence.  We confess our weakness, Holy One, and our failure to live the new life you offer.  We confess that we sometimes get so caught up in the busy-ness of our everyday routines that we fail to notice your presence – we fail to notice your love all around us. We drive quickly past amazing vistas that proclaim your beauty and majesty. In worship, our mind wanders to the week just past or the week ahead, and we feel distant from you. Forgive us, we pray. In the silence, speak to us once more and open the eyes of our hearts to behold your beauty. 

ASSURANCE OF PARDON:                                                                                   

One: God knows our every need even before we ask.                                                All: In this moment, God offers us the gift of renewal and transformation. We accept it with joy and thanksgiving. Our sins are forgiven.  Thanks be to God. Amen.
