Call to Worship:
Genesis 1:1-5
Opening Prayer:
One: Loving and gracious God, we thank you for water – cool and refreshing on a hot summer’s day; a warm soothing bath after a hard day’s work; a necessity for plants to grow and thrive. Jesus Christ is like living water.
All: Water - when we are washed clean, we feel refreshed. In our baptism, we are made new. Jesus Christ is like living water. And as Jesus was baptized with the Holy Spirit, may we, in the Holy Spirit, be filled with love and joy!
Opening Hymn:
Voices United #100 – When Jesus Comes to be Baptized
Confession & Pardon:
All: Compassionate God, as people called to be your presence in the world, we search our hearts, and ask your forgiveness:
For opportunities not taken, for care not given,
For sorrow not shared, for joy not celebrated,
For love not offered, for forgiveness not extended,
We seek your healing grace. Forgive us, we pray.
One: Know that our loving God gives us unconditional and never-ending forgiveness and love. May you hear God’s voice proclaiming directly to you: “You are my own dear child; I am pleased with you.”

All: We thank you, God:
For the beauty and wonder of creation, For food and shelter,
for family and friends, for minds to think and hearts to love,
For the strength to work, and the delight in play,
For those who are courageous in conflict, patient in suffering, and faithful in adversity,
For all who pursue justice, truth, and peace,
for being part of this church family where we can love and care for one another, for our community, and for the world.
One: We pray all this, in the name of Jesus, the gift you have given us, who was baptized by John in the river Jordan, who taught us when we pray to say...

Blessing/Sending Forth:
Voices United #349
May the Christ who walks on wounded feet walk with you on the road.
May the Christ who serves with wounded hands stretch out your hands to serve.
May the Christ who loves with a wounded heart open your hearts to love.
May you see the face of Christ in everyone you meet, and may everyone you meet see the face of Christ in you.
